Passes and Counts on the Face with a 36-Array Needle Set
Whether you’re performing a treatment using Vivace Ultra™ or traditional Vivace®, it’s important to understand the difference between pass and shot count and how they work in conjunction to deliver optimal results.
Pass: A pass is defined as ONE complete treatment on the entire face. We recommend that the provider performs one pass on the patient’s face before beginning a second pass on a previously treated area.
When performing each pass, providers should utilize a 50% overlap technique should be performed. This technique provides a uniform warming effect to the tissue that helps stimulate the growth of new collagen fibers leading to significant improvement in skin quality and texture.
Count: The count, also referred to as shot count, is the number of times the needles are deployed into the skin to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy. This number can be tracked and located in the middle of the RF screen above “ENERGY” on the Vivace Ultra™ device. On the Vivace® device, the shot number can be found above the “READY” or “STANDBY”.
A shot count can be used as an indicator to assure the provider the proper number of pulses are being delivered into the tissue, and that the proper technique of overlap is being utilized. When performing a Vivace Ultra™ or Vivace® treatment on the face, aim to deliver a MINIMUM of 400 shots per pass with a 36-array needle set. If you are below this number after your first pass, smaller “hops” or spacing in between shots can help increase the total amount of energy shot counts delivered.
Small Sized Face – A minimum of 800 total shots should be delivered by the end of the treatment with 2 passes at 50% overlap.
Medium Sized Face – A minimum of 1000 total shots should be delivered by the end of the treatment with 2 passes at 50% overlap.
Large Sized Face – A minimum of 1200 total shots should be delivered by the end of the treatment with 2 passes at 50% overlap.
